Here's a fact for you - The Zombie is a cocktail made of fruit juices, liquers and various rums, so named for its perceived effects upon the drinker. It first appeared in the late 1930s, invented by Donn Beach (formerly Ernest Raymond Beaumont-Gannt) of Hollywood's Don the Beachcomber restaurant. It was popularised soon afterwards at the 1939 New York Worlds Fair. Rum is a personal favourite of mine and so naturally the 'Zombie' is one of my top cocktails. Below is a recipe for Zombie Punch (apparently this makes 42 sharings) beware, it's pretty intoxicating and by the way...you don't need to include the Skeleton, but we quite like him.
What you need : 2 cups curaƧao or triple sec, 2 750-ml bottles gold or light rum, 2 cups lime juice, 2 cups of orange juice, 2 cups high-proof rum (wray wray), 2 oz Pernod, 1 750-ml bottle dark rum (appletons), 1 cup lemon juice and 1 cup of pineapple juice.
